Claudia-Florentina Dobre is a historian of Communism. She got her Ph.D. in Québec, Canada, with a thesis on the memory of political persecutions in communist Romania. She conducted research on the memory of Communism, on museums, memorials and monuments, on women’s memory, and everyday life in Romania and in Central and Eastern Europe during communism. She has published extensively on these topics in important academic journals and books. She has also realized a documentary on the memory of Bărăgan deportation in communist Romania and is currently involved in academic and civic activities.
Anamaria Neagu is a Romanian journalist and a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Studies, University of Bucharest. She worked in print and national television as a live correspondent and published several books on media related subjects. She is a Ph.D. in communication sciences, and a certified trainer. Her passion for history and travelling, combined with her love of sharing personal stories from her communist childhood will make your tour with her a fascinating experience.
Marius Zaharia is a Political Science graduate, and a passionate traveler. He is the founder of the Communist tour, but he will still occasionally guide you on this or other tours of Bucharest. Having spent the first part of his career working in the software industry, he is now dedicated full-time to crafting unique experiences for visitors of Bucharest. When he is not guiding or promoting the tours, he likes getting lost in Bucharest as a tourist. He is also the host of the unique and very cozy Good Living hotel in Bucharest.
